Beijing Olympics Wrestling
Wrestling has been apart of the Olympics games since they ultimately began. So naturally they will essentially be a part of the XXIX Olympiad program this time around as well. Wresting has hundreds of styles that are literally world wide today. Many nations have different forms and moves. Wrestling was contested in the 1920 Olympic games and only one form was recognized at that time. Then in the Sydney Olympic games the wrestling competition was introduced once again, however the program had undergone several changes and improvements as far as rules and regulations. There were only eight classes during the Sydney Olympics. The weights also became a factor and changes were made in this area as well. With wrestling there are special boots worn made of leather that have no heels or studs. A wrestling suit is worn and it must be red or blue. Made of stretch material. The mat for wrestling is approved by the FILA and the same quality as competition mat requirements for other wrestling matches.
The main object of the wrestling competition is to "pin" the opponent. However there are rules and regulations set into place for the competitors protection and safety. There is a weigh in, as well as a regulation to the new rules. The judge is responsible for all the duties in the general rules of wrestling. The judge cannot be distracted in any way. The judge awards points for each action of legitimate moves by the competitors. Once one opponent or the other is pinned, the judge also verifies and signals the fall to the referee. There are normally three periods of two minutes. There are many other ways to victory for the wrestlers as well as the "pin" method.
