I.O.C - International Olympic Committee

There are many different organizations which contribute to the Olympic Games; however the IOC (International Olympic Committee) is the most prominent and powerful of them all. This committee is stations in Switzerland and was created by Pierre de Coubertin in 1894. This committee includes 206 members who are all responsible to maintain the tradition and values of the Olympic Games from each corner of the world.

The overall mission of the IOC is to promote the Olympic Games and their values to countries and cultures from all over the world. The committee is required to support and encourage people from all over the world to compete and/or aspire to compete in the Olympic Games, they encourage support and promotion from other corporations throughout the world and the list can go on and on. They have many responsibilities to uphold and since the beginning of the IOC, they have managed to not only uphold their duties but to increase the world's interest in the Olympic Games as well as the athletes who choose to compete.

Not only does the IOC have certain responsibilities to the world and athletes throughout it, they also have a responsibility to each other as members. This organization is very traditional and organizes their group and opinions in the most traditional and political way possible. They hold IOC Sessions which are general meetings for every member of the IOC where they are required to make one vote and their decisions are final. Although this is only one task that is generally completed during an IOC Session, it is one of the most important.

There are rules and regulations the members of the IOC must follow in order to maintain their status and their respect within the organization. If a member fails to attend the yearly IOC Session they are immediately dismissed from the organization. The members within this organization take their positions very seriously and have the right to vote in or out any of new or existing members to make sure their organization is the best it can be.

Olympic marketing is the most important job of the IOC. They do the advertising and marketing of the new hosting countries and throughout the off years continue to work on the most effective marketing strategies for the upcoming Olympic Games. There are several different committees which offer different services to generate revenue which is then transformed into marketing funds for the IOC. A sum of 92% of the Olympic Games revenue is used for marketing and distributed throughout the many different Olympic organizations to ensure that each Olympic Game is held with the same tradition and high standing as the year before.

The IOC includes members from all over the world to ensure that each of the largest countries and continents have an official say in the Olympic Games and hosting countries. The IOC holds a very important and historical place in the scheme of the Olympic traditions. Without the IOC to maintain the values and tradition of this spectacular event, it is hard to imagine if the games would still be going on or what they would be like today.
