Beijing China 2008 - The History & Background

As Beijing is hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics, many spectators and athletes are interested in learning more about the history and background of Beijing. Although many people have always thought of the People's Republic of China to be a travel destination where tourists stay away from, there is a great deal to see and do within Beijing and the surrounding area.

Beijing is the fourth municipality of the PRC (People's Republic of China) and they make up a large part of China's administration and government structures. Beijing is the third largest city within China in regards to population and Beijing has a great deal of transportation hubs that include dozens of railways and expressways that lead throughout the entire city and bring you too many of Beijing China surrounding cities as well.

It was not until the Ming Dynasty where Beijing began to take its current shape and structure. From 1425-1650 Beijing was believed to be the largest city in the world. Soon after this, the Forbidden City was constructed along -with other construction projects such as the Temple of Heaven. Today these are both tourist attractions and historical attractions that everyone is interested in visiting when they arrive in Beijing China.

Although there is a great deal of historical and culture sites for tourists and Olympians to see during their visit to Beijing, there are also many different environmental issues that politicians are concerned about. There have been great concerns in the past regarding the pollution and emissions within the People's Republic of China and with their honour to host the 2008 Summer Olympics, the public eye has been focussing on them more intently. Recent studies have shown that they have reduced their pollution rate significantly over the past few years and therefore the PRC find it more than adequate and safe for the Olympic athletes and spectators to visit Beijing.

With their booming economy and their amazing cultural life for those who are visiting Beijing China from other countries of the world, it can be the perfect destination not only for viewing the Olympic Games but for tourism in general. Beijing is a very safe and metropolitan area of China with more and more businesses bringing their work to Beijing and more and more tourists recognizing its potential. It is also a haven for investors looking to take real estate and commercialism to the next level with one of the fast rising countries in the world.

Many people find the architecture alone in Beijing to be something to see on its own. You will find see a lot of traditional Imperial China architecture throughout the area of Beijing and this includes the Forbidden City and many other cultural monuments as well.
